Sondra Sexton-Jones Background and Experience

Sondra Sexton-Jones is in private practice in Alaska and Texas, serving Juneau AK, Sitka AK, Wasilla AK, Cedar Hill TX, and Duncanville TX. She provides a wide variety of mental health services through psychotherapy and has an extensive background in treating grief and loss issues stemming from traumatic deaths.

Since 1989, Ms. Sexton-Jones has provided therapy, and consulted with corporations relating to providing education and information behind trauma deaths on site. She facilitates a 12-week suicide bereavement educational group on an as-needed basis.

Sondra Sexton-Jones holds a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Woman’s University. She interned at Collin County Mental Health Clinic in Plano, Texas. She was employed at Horizon Recovery Center, a dual diagnosis treatment facility located in Garland, Texas. In addition to providing mental health services, she specialized in grief and loss pertaining to traumatic deaths, specifically suicide.

Ms. Sexton-Jones is also a doctoral candidate with emphasis in crisis, trauma and intervention at Walden University.

She is certified as a Thanatologist from the Association for Death Education and Counseling.

Ms. Sexton-Jones’ book, When Someone You Love Completes Suicide, is used in crisis centers and hospitals.
